Welcome to the Science and Mathematics Teaching Center

The Science and Mathematics Teaching Center (SMTC) is committed to excellence in K-16 science and mathematics teaching and learning. Functioning as a department of the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences, the SMTC facilitates collaborative interdisciplinary professional development projects that support teachers in Wyoming and across the Western United States. We serve as a resource center for teachers and a center for collaboration on grants between K-12 schools, the Wyoming Department of Education, community colleges, and the University of Wyoming. The SMTC offers three master’s programs for science and mathematics teachers as well as professional development courses for certification. We support and promote research based change in the teaching and learning of K-16 science and mathematics education.
