American Meteoroloogical Society Teacher Enhancment Courses

DataStreme Atmosphere and DataStreme Ocean

The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is gearing up for the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters of their successful Internet delivered teacher enhancement courses. These two FREE Internet-based distance-learning courses on Weather and Oceanography are open to K-12 teachers. The courses incorporate inquiry-based instructional strategies and a holistic concept of Earth System Science from oceanic, atmospheric and terrestrial water and problem-focused perspectives.

All teachers involved will be prepared to promote Earth system studies across the school curriculum in support of the National Science Education Standards.

TUITION (3 graduate credits per course) AND learning materials including textbooks are FREE.

Courses are delivered via the Internet over a 12 week period.
Participants are expected to attend three, two-hour meetings during each course. All other work is done via the Internet.
